Welcome
Welcome to Abundance Psychology, an independent Clinical Psychology service serving individuals across Guisborough, Saltburn, East Cleveland, Redcar and Middlesbrough. I also offer appointments online.
The Abundance Psychology logo was inspired by the lotus flower. This flower is one of the most beautiful in the world. But it starts its life at the bottom of a muddy pond. It has to push its way past the dirt and through the murky water to emerge on the surface. The lotus is a symbol of transforming suffering and rising above the past to thrive and flourish.
My approach to therapy involves us working together to develop a deeper understanding of what is causing your suffering and holding you back. Many of my clients experience self-criticism and distress that has stopped them moving forwards in their lives. The most important aspect of treatment is working together to develop a trusting and compassionate therapeutic relationship, this is the foundation of all future work.
I am able to use cognitive behavioural therapy, compassion focused approaches and acceptance and commitment therapy for a range of difficulties, including anxiety disorders, depression, eating disorders and addictions. I have a specialist interest in compassion focused approaches to self-criticism and low self-esteem. I also work with family members and provide consultations to organisations.
I will work with you using a variety of assessment and therapy approaches, tailored to your particular needs. Some of the types of therapy I use are:
Psychological Assessment and Formulation - during the initial phase of therapy we will discuss your difficulties and history in depth, to help make sense of your experiences and how they may be affecting you now
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - this approach helps you to think differently about your problems, and is a practical and structured approach.
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) - developed for individuals who are highly critical of themselves, this approach seeks to restore a compassionate and accepting mindset by uncovering your blocks to experiencing compassion.
If you would like to find out more please email me to arrange your initial assessment session,
Warmly yours,
